Earlier this year, Sunspot Lit’s publisher Laine Cunningham connected with Wang Jie, one of the founders of Cat’s Forest residency. This new program welcomes artists, authors, and those interested in learning more about Chinese traditional heritage, culture, and arts.

Set in a farming village within the boundaries of Shanghai, the program “has leased several small courtyards in Zhujiajiao in order to transform them into:
· A physical place where wildness and home coexist. Here, you can grow freely, and you can care for one another;
· A creative site where Truth, Goodness, Beauty, and Meaning work synergistically as direction (Truth), warmth (Goodness), expression (Beauty), and significance (Meaning) unfold together;
· An international humanities and arts residency where people from diverse backgrounds come not merely to “produce work,” but to experience a complete state of being;
· A time-based art space that is itself a special medium perpetually in progress.”
Read more about the residency in Sunspot Lit’s most recent edition (Volume 8, Issue 2, October 2026) here.
